QUALITY ASSURANCE
The Laboratory operates a robust Quality Assurance and Quality Control program. This includes both daily and weekly internal quality control tests but also participates in independent external quality assessment schemes.
We participate in the Surveillance of Equine Strangles (SES) program, run by the Animal Health Trust, which collates anonymous data on laboratory-confirmed Streptococcus equi diagnoses. Additionally, we participate in the Epicollect5 project, which is sequencing selected Streptococcus equi genomes to assist in future diagnosis and treatment of infections.

We have third party accreditation provided by VETQAS for testing for Taylorella equigenitalis, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa and is approved under the Horserace Betting Levy Board (HBLB) Codes of Practice scheme.
