Established for over 30 years, we are a large laboratory providing clinical support to equine vets, trainers and studs, as well as small animal vets.
The laboratory offers a comprehensive suite of tests that complement our veterinary experts in equine and small animal care, and our internal hospital.
The laboratory also receives samples from many referring veterinary surgeons.

RECENT NEWS
KEEPING YOU UP-TO-DATE WITH THE LATEST DEVELOPMENTS
Covid-19 update. The laboratory is open.
16 December 2020
The Laboratory is still providing a full service. We have had to make some minor changes to the way we operate to ensure staff safety can be maintained. Postal deliveries are slower than normal so please consider using a Special Delivery service if sending unstable samples. We had had to change some of our providers for external laboratory tests and so turnaround times may be increased for some of the referred tests. If you have any queries please contact us by phone (01635 39019) or by email (lab@donningtogrove.com).
New CEM PCR
7 February 2020
We have now established a new PCR test for our CEM Panel. The test can detect the 3 pathogens Taylorella equigenitalis, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. PCR is much faster (1 day) than the culture-based test, which takes 7 days. Our new test is now half the cost of the previous PCR test we were using. Samples can be processed same day as long as the sample reaches us by 12.30 pm. Our test is approved by BEVA and can be used to issue certificates that the animals are free of these 3 pathogens.
Our new haematology analyser
2 January 2020
For our automated haematology, we now have the Advia 2120i, which delivers the gold-standard in testing methodology. This complements our expert laboratory haematologists who assist with interpretation and performing additional tests, allowing us to deliver optimum results rapidly.
